Terrapin Side Project Vol. 14 Tomfoolery
This week Terrapin has released their 14th Side Project called Tomfoolery. This treat is unusual to say the least. Finding any brewery these days that will attempt a black saison style like this one is hard to do. It seems as if brewing traditional styles with black malts is becoming somewhat trendy among American Craft Breweries. Terrapin has brewed some amazing stouts and IPAs in the past and is still going strong and offering even more to their fan base.
Tomfoolery pours near black color with a good sized head. Banana, clove, citrusy flavors that are roasty with chocolate and caramel showing as well. An interesting take on the style. Tomfoolery has a nice medium body that compliments all the flavors coming from within. A nice blend of sweet funky fruit and a toasty chocolate and dark caramel character. The finish is easy and lingers nicely. Spike from Terrapin says, "Beer is serious business. What you do after consumption often times is not."
