Le Merle Saison brewed by North Coast Brewing Company in Fort Bragg, California - Le Merle is one of the few saisons that Cool Springs carries year round. While a Farmhouse Ale may not seem to fit in during the winter months, Le Merle has a big enough malt backbone to keep it relevant regardless of the temperature. It pours pale, straw copper in color quickly bubbling up to display a white fluffy foam. The aromas are dominated by a citrus component that shows off lots of lemon grass and zest. There are also notes of coriander, malt, pepper, and other herbal spices. The palate is surprising creamy for a saison. The malt presence is not to be underestimated. Flavors are much the same as the nose with additions of tropical fruit and some welcome funk. Great Belgian style ale from North Coast.
