If you’ve been by the store recently, you may have visited our new beer cellar. We’re really excited about it over here at Cool Springs Wines & Spirits. As you walk in the store, just head directly to your left.
It’s currently located where Frank’s Value Cellar used to be. But don’t worry! Frank’s value wines are still located in that general location. The truth is that Frank’s Value Cellar outgrew that location and needed a little more room to spread its wings. The leftover space was perfect for a beer cellar.
Why a beer cellar? For those of you new to the interesting beer laws in Tennessee, it breaks down like this. To sell any beer above 6.2% alcohol, you must have a liquor license. Thus you can’t find many of the best beers available in grocery or regular beer stores. To get the best IPAs, seasonals, stouts, barley wines, meades, porters, Belgians, bocks, etc…you have to go to a bar or a liquor store like Cool Springs Wines & Spirits.
If you’re a beer lover, you must stop by and see our selection. It keeps getting bigger and brighter every day.
FEATURED BEERS

Midas Touch Golden Elixir by Dogfish Head Brewery, Milton, Delaware - King Midas is a figure in Greek mythology known for his god-given power to turn anything he touched to gold. This "golden" ale is one of the most unique beverages out there, and it is of course made by our ever-experimental (and impressive) friends at Dogfish Head. The really remarkable thing about this beer is that they extrapolated the recipe by analyzing the residue found in beer containers that date back well into the B.C.'s. Archaeologists unearthed them from a tomb that contained the remains of one of the predecessors of the real King Midas (or at least the man that the legends were based on). It turns out that they were drinking pretty good beer back then (well, the royalty was, anyway). This unusual ale is blended with white Muscat grape juice, honey, and saffron, producing a remarkably smooth, slightly sweet, fruity ale. It reminds me of eating a grape dipped in honey and caramel. The fine, persistent carbonation lends it a creamy texture, but it's really not a heavy beer at all. This is one of the more refreshing high gravity offerings available, and definitely one of the most unique.
Grimbergen Abbey Dubbel by Brasserie Union, Jumet, Belgium - The Grimbergen Abbey was brewing and serving this ale to pilgrims as far back as the early Middle Ages. It represents the classic double fermentation (dubbel) style that is common in many Belgium beers. This brew offers up lots of the port or brandy-like flavors that define this style. There's a hefty portion of dark fruit, especially dried fruit flavors (raisins, plums), that pair well with the caramel and toffee flavors from the malt, and it has a nice bready richness throughout. It's a little on the sweet side for a high gravity beverage, and in some ways isn't quite as sophisticated as modern-recipe Belgian beer, but it's also a little more affordable and easy-drinking, so it's a great way to introduce yourself to the Belgian dubbel style.
