Terrapin Monk's Revenge
First off I want to say that the East Nashville Beer Festival was a huge success and I had a great time. Spike from Terrapin was there and spoke for while on his brews, the Terrapin Company, and the industry as a whole. Just last week Terrapin released their Monk's Revenge as a new seasonal in their Monster Beer Tour which first appeared as a Side Project in 2009. This new age beer style is a fusion of two great brewing traditions that are worlds apart - a hoppy American Double IPA and a classic Belgian Tripel. This combination shows that Terrapin is willing and able to produce beer that is "outside of the box" and consumers are thirsty for more.

The Monk's Revenge poured a caramel-amber color with a foamy white head that left some lacing. The aroma was tangy with a strong sugar presence and moderate floral notes mixed fruity hops. The flavor is tart and tangy with a table sugar note and moderate floral and fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and touches of pepper and orange slide in underneath with a finish that is long, tart, and crisp.
