Cool Springs Wines & Spirits' Featured Beer

Schlafly Barleywine
Surprisingly, we are already half-way through January and time is flying. Time plays a major role in how a beer evolves whether it be in a good or bad way. Some beers are made to drink fresh while others can be cellared for years which can improve your whole experience of that specific style or bottle. At Cool Springs Wines and Spirits we have a limited number of 2008 vintage Schlafly Oak-Aged Barleywine bottles left to go along with the current 2011 vintage Schlafly Oak-Aged Barlywine bottles. What could be better on a cold January night than a tasting of the same bottle from different years? The difference is significant but both vintages show very well. Schlafly Barleywine is aged on new medium toasted Missouri Oak which gives vanilla, caramel, and toffee. The malt gives this brew sweetness and fruit to compliment the oak flavors. The finish lingers and has a slight booze note that is enjoyable. Come get the last of the 2008 vintage bottles while they last and be sure to pair it with some cheese, fruit, or chocolate.
