Rye and Ginger

Ingredients
2 oz Rye Whisky*
4 or 5 oz Ginger Ale

Directions
1. Pour the whiskey into a Collins glass.
2. Add 2 or 3 ice cubes, and top off with Ginger Ale.

*You can also use Canadian whiskey, which has been calling itself "rye" since Prohibition made that profitable. It does have some rye in it, but it's nowhere near as muscular as the real stuff. You're better off with a big, robust bourbon, such as Old Forester, Old Grand Dad, or Wild Turkey.

Rye Whiskey Manhattan

Ingredients
1 1/2 oz Old Overholt rye whiskey
3/4 oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes bitters
1 tsp cherry juice
3 cherries, for garnish

Directions
1. Combine ingredients in a glass shaker with ice.
2. Stir for 30 seconds and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with cherries.
